The short version: Skylofts have fallen. Mediocre service. Cut amenities. Ancient rooms with technology that not only doesn't work, but makes it almost impossible to operate basic functionalities in the room. Sadly, the experience at the Skylofts has really gone downhill. I recently stayed this year in October 2024, but previously stayed in March last year as well. Last year, it was a wonderful stay. I was provided transportation from the hotel, I was met at the curb, everyone was informative, helpful, and polite. I was able to eat lunch at the Mansion, and overall had a very, very enjoyable stay. This year? It was terrible. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because my butler, Yumi, was as wonderful this time as she was last visit. Rather than being provided transportation like last time, we arranged our own and were told to call about 10 minutes out so they could meet us. I tried calling and their phone system seemed on the fritz, and I wasn't able to get through, so we just pulled up where we were greeted like we were a giant inconvenience. After going inside multiple times to check, they finally realized we did indeed have Skyloft reservations, and escorted us upstairs after a few minutes. The introduction to our loft was short and not very sweet (or suite). There was no mention of the many services offered Skyloft guests, no mention of unpacking, pressing clothes, access to the mansion or anything. Was there was a mention of was the fact that our room's technology wasn't properly working and they'd be sending up an engineer shortly. This meant we couldn't control the lights easily, we couldn't control the drapes, the HVAC, the TV or music. The engineer came by and was unable to fix things. Using other controls in the room, we at least could close the drapes and adjust the lighting, though it was a bit of a pain. On top of it all, the room was rather hot, and this was obviously a known issue as they'd installed a separate portable air conditioner upstairs. The rest of the loft never got below mid/upper 70s. We were told an engineer would be back tomorrow morning to fix things. We left the room the next morning around 11am and let them know so they could bring in the engineer, housekeeping and the rest (specifically mentioning the engineer as we left). Upon returning that evening, I asked about the status of them fixing the room controls and they seemed confused. No engineer had visited, nothing had been done. They hadn't followed up with the engineers, or me, or anything. They did bring by another engineer, who was also unable to fix things. In the end, they also ended up finding a leak in the hot water tank, so they had to move us the next night. They said they were moving us to a 'premium' Skyloft, which really just meant it had a strip view. It also had a front door that slammed VERY loudly if you didn't gently close it, HVAC that barely worked, and once again, a room control system that didn't properly work. Th
